RAL 6021 is a soft yet vibrant light green shade widely used in sports surfaces and recreational paving to create a natural, fresh visual experience. Our RAL 6021 EPDM rubber granules are produced using peroxide vulcanization technology and contain no sulfur. Under high temperatures and intense UV exposure, they do not decompose into sulfides, making them odorless, pollution-free, and harmless to the human body. Our EPDM granules have excellent weather resistance and are healthier because we use the peroxide vulcanization method—there is no sulfur in our EPDM granules, hence they do not produce sulfides when exposed to sunlight, causing no pollution to the environment, no odor, and no harm to the human body. We are one of the highest-quality and most cost-effective EPDM granule manufacturers in China and the world, and we would like to send free samples for you to test.

What Core Problems Do These Granules Solve for Users?

For buyers and end users, the most practical concerns when selecting EPDM granules typically center on a few points: how long the color will last, whether there will be odor, whether the material will age rapidly under different climates, and whether the available specifications match project requirements. RAL 6021 EPDM granules are designed to address these specific issues.

The carbon-carbon crosslinks formed by the peroxide vulcanization system have higher bond energy than the sulfur-sulfur bonds of conventional sulfur vulcanization, giving the granules greater stability against thermal aging and UV degradation. This means that in long-term outdoor exposure scenarios, color and physical performance retention are more predictable. Meanwhile, because the formula contains no sulfur, no sulfide odor is produced under high-temperature sun exposure—particularly suitable for schools, kindergartens, residential areas, and other odor-sensitive environments. At the specification level, we support customization from 0.5–1.5 mm to 1–3 mm, 1–4 mm, 2–4 mm, and special particle sizes, allowing users to select the matching granule size for different processes such as surface coating, artificial turf infill, or mat molding.

EPDM granules Features

Applications and Advantages

RAL 6021 EPDM granules cover the vast majority of outdoor applications requiring colored elastic granules. In running tracks and sports surface top layers, they serve as anti-slip, wear-resistant surface granules, providing athletes with stable friction and cushioning. In artificial turf systems, they act as infill granules to help grass fibers stand upright and regulate foot feel and ball rebound performance. In playground and outdoor leisure area safety mats, they provide impact absorption to reduce fall injury risk. In kindergartens, school activity areas, fitness trails, rooftop garden paving, and similar scenes, the light green tone of RAL 6021 blends naturally with greenery.

From a performance standpoint, peroxide vulcanization gives the granules a more stable molecular structure and significantly improved aging resistance. Product performance retention and service life show clear advantages over conventional sulfur vulcanization systems. Elasticity and tensile strength are maintained in the 4–7 MPa range, meeting the dual demands of sports surfaces for rebound and durability. Flame retardancy reaches Class 1, and the low bulk density with strong angular three-dimensionality ensures good dispersion and encapsulation in PU adhesive systems.

Adaptability to different climate regions deserves separate mention. The Middle East and tropical regions face sustained high temperatures and intense UV radiation; here, the thermal stability advantage of peroxide-vulcanized C-C bonds directly translates into longer color retention cycles and lower risk of hardening and embrittlement. Northern Europe and high-latitude regions must contend with winter freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salt attack; the inherently weather-resistant EPDM backbone combined with a stable crosslink network maintains elasticity under repeated freeze-thaw conditions without powdering or cracking. Rainy and humid regions (such as Southeast Asia, the UK, and parts of South America) are concerned with performance degradation under prolonged wet conditions; the lower water absorption tendency and hydrolysis resistance of the peroxide vulcanization system help reduce interfacial debonding caused by moisture penetration. For high-altitude or equatorial regions with extremely high UV intensity, the pigment system used in RAL 6021 is selected to work with the stable polymer matrix, keeping color shift within an acceptable range under long-term exposure.

FAQ

How long will the color of RAL 6021 last under outdoor sun exposure?

Color retention duration is affected by UV intensity, frequency of use, and cleaning maintenance. The peroxide vulcanization system combined with selected pigments delivers UV aging resistance superior to conventional sulfur-vulcanized products under typical outdoor conditions. We recommend evaluating the expected cycle based on local UV index during the project design phase, and we can provide accelerated aging test data for reference.

Do the granules have any odor? Are they safe for use in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces?

The sulfur-free formula means no sulfide-type odor is released under heat and UV exposure. The product is peroxide-vulcanized and contains no sulfur, so it does not produce irritating odors under normal use conditions—suitable for schools, residential areas, and other odor-sensitive environments.

What particle sizes can you offer? Can they be customized to project requirements?

Standard sizes include 0.5–1.5 mm, 1–3 mm, 1–4 mm, and 2–4 mm, and special specifications can be customized based on the user's installation process or infill equipment requirements. Different sizes serve different purposes: finer granules suit surface coating or thin-layer mats, while coarser granules suit artificial turf infill or scenarios requiring higher drainage.

Can RAL 6021 be mixed with other colors?

Yes. We support various color combination customizations. Users can mix RAL 6021 with red, gray, blue, or other EPDM granules in proportions according to design patterns or color schemes to create multi-colored sports surfaces or landscape paving effects.

Do you support Pantone colors or custom matching from samples?

Yes. In addition to the RAL standard color card, we accept Pantone color customization and customer sample color matching. When providing samples, please include a color reference number or physical sample dimensions where possible for accurate matching.

What are the minimum order quantity and lead time?

Minimum order quantity is flexible and can be negotiated based on specific specifications and packaging requirements. Orders for standard colors and sizes can be produced and shipped within a relatively short time after confirmation. Both full-container and less-than-container shipments can be arranged.

Has the product passed environmental or safety-related testing?

We use peroxide vulcanization technology; the product contains no sulfur, and heavy metal content control follows relevant standards. Corresponding test reports can be provided according to destination country requirements. Please confirm specific items with our sales team.

You only produce granules—who handles installation?

We focus exclusively on the R&D and production of EPDM granules and do not undertake installation work. This model allows us to concentrate all production capacity and quality control resources on the consistency, color stability, and batch reliability of the granules themselves. Users can manage granule supply and installation separately, with installation completed by their designated contractor.
