Colored rubber granules are the essential surface and infill material for modern sports and leisure flooring. Our EPDM granules are produced using peroxide vulcanization technology, a process that fundamentally distinguishes them from conventional sulfur-cured products. Because there is no sulfur in our formulation, the granules do not decompose into sulfides when exposed to sunlight or high temperatures. The result is a material that is odorless, pollution-free, and harmless to human health, while delivering exceptional color stability and structural durability. We are a manufacturer dedicated exclusively to EPDM granule production—we do not undertake installation—allowing us to focus entirely on formulation, quality control, and customization. Our granules are recognized as one of the highest-quality and most cost-effective options available from China and the global market, and we offer free samples for your testing and verification.

What Problems Do Colored EPDM Granules Solve for You?

When specifying a surface material for sports fields, playgrounds, or landscaping, buyers and end-users typically face a set of recurring pain points. Colored EPDM granules address these directly:

Fading and discoloration under sunlight. Strong UV radiation—especially in regions like the Middle East, Australia, and parts of the Americas—degrades many colored surfacing materials within a few seasons. EPDM’s saturated ethylene-propylene backbone is inherently resistant to UV-induced chain scission, and our peroxide-cured structure preserves color vibrancy far longer than sulfur-cured rubber.

Odor and safety concerns. Sulfur-cured EPDM can release sulfurous compounds under heat and UV exposure, producing an unpleasant smell that concerns schools, municipalities, and parents. Because our granules are sulfur-free, there is no odor, no sulfide generation, and no health risk to athletes or children.

Premature hardening and cracking. In climates with wide temperature swings—from freezing winters in Northern Europe and Canada to scorching summers in the Gulf States—inferior granules become brittle or soften excessively. Peroxide-cured EPDM maintains elasticity across a broad temperature range, preventing surface cracking and compaction.

Excessive maintenance and replacement cost. A surface that loses its color, hardens, or compacts forces facility managers to resurface every few years. The molecular stability of our peroxide-cured granules extends service life significantly, reducing total cost of ownership.

EPDM granules Features

Applications and Advantages

Colored EPDM granules are a versatile surfacing solution used across a wide spectrum of venues:

Sports fields and running tracks. EPDM granules are a standard component in wet-pour athletic tracks and multi-purpose courts, providing consistent shock absorption and spike resistance at high-stress zones such as start lines and take-off boards.

Children’s playgrounds and kindergarten surfaces. The granules’ rounded, safe texture and high elasticity reduce impact injuries from falls. Colors can be combined to create educational patterns and zoning, with the color integrated throughout the granule rather than applied as a surface coating.

Artificial turf systems. As an infill material, EPDM granules deliver consistent elasticity, minimal compaction, and low splash, improving playing comfort on football and rugby pitches while reducing surface heat compared to black SBR infill.

Outdoor leisure and landscape areas. Walking paths, pool surrounds, fitness zones, and rooftop terraces benefit from EPDM’s slip resistance, color stability, and all-weather usability. The material remains functional in wet conditions and does not support moss or fungal growth.

EPDM rubber mats and tiles. Granules are molded or bonded into prefabricated mats for gyms, play areas, and commercial flooring where a clean, modular installation is preferred.

EPDM Application

Durability Across Global Climates

EPDM’s polymer backbone is saturated, meaning it lacks the double bonds in the main chain that make diene rubbers vulnerable to oxygen and ozone attack. This chemistry translates into practical durability across diverse climate zones:

Hot and arid climates (Middle East, North Africa, Australia). Surface temperatures on synthetic sports surfaces can exceed 60–70°C. Our peroxide-cured EPDM resists thermal degradation, and the absence of sulfur eliminates the risk of sulfide off-gassing that sulfur-cured granules exhibit under intense solar exposure. For exceptionally high-UV regions, we recommend pairing granules with a UV-resistant topcoat for maximum color retention.

Cold climates (Northern Europe, Canada, Northern China). EPDM retains flexibility at low temperatures, resisting the embrittlement and cracking that affect some elastomeric infills during freeze-thaw cycles.

Humid and rainy climates (Southeast Asia, UK, Pacific Northwest). The material is non-porous and does not absorb water, so granules maintain their weight, elasticity, and color in persistently wet conditions. They will not swell, degrade, or support biological growth.

High-altitude and high-UV regions. Thin-atmosphere locations expose surfaces to elevated UV flux. The carbon-black and pigment systems used in our granules, combined with the stable C-C crosslink network, provide a high degree of inherent UV resistance without relying solely on surface coatings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between your peroxide-cured EPDM and standard sulfur-cured EPDM?

Peroxide curing creates carbon-carbon crosslinks between polymer chains, while sulfur curing forms weaker carbon-sulfur and sulfur-sulfur bonds. The C-C bond is more thermally stable and resistant to UV degradation. In practice, our granules exhibit no sulfur odor, better heat aging, and longer color retention. Academic studies confirm that peroxide-cured EPDM outperforms sulfur-cured EPDM in heat resistance and UV photo-degradation resistance.

Can you customize the color to match our project specifications?

Yes. We support RAL color matching, Pantone matching, and customer sample matching. You can send us a physical color swatch or provide a reference code, and we will formulate the granule color to meet your specification. We also support multi-color blends for patterned installations.

What particle sizes are available?

Standard sizes include 0.5–1.5 mm, 1–3 mm, 1–4 mm, and 2–4 mm. These cover the typical range for artificial turf infill, playground wet-pour, and running track applications. We can produce other special sizes upon request.

Do you offer OEM, ODM, or private label services?

Yes. As a manufacturer focused exclusively on EPDM granule production, we support OEM production, ODM development, and private labeling with custom packaging. We do not perform installation, which means our entire operational focus is on granule quality and consistency.

What is your minimum order quantity and delivery time?

We offer flexible MOQs to accommodate both trial orders and full-container shipments. We support full-container (FCL) and less-than-container (LCL) arrangements. Delivery schedules are confirmed at order placement, and our production capacity allows for rapid turnaround on standard specifications.

How do your granules perform in very hot climates?

Our granules are formulated for high-temperature stability. The absence of sulfur means no sulfide generation even under prolonged UV and heat exposure. For regions with extreme solar intensity, we can advise on compatible UV-resistant topcoat systems to maximize color longevity. Independent testing shows EPDM maintains mechanical integrity under accelerated weathering conditions that would degrade many alternative elastomers.

Are your EPDM granules safe for children’s play areas?

Yes. The granules are odorless, non-toxic, and free of heavy metals and sulfur compounds. The elastic surface reduces impact force from falls, and the color is integrated throughout the granule—not applied as a surface paint—so there is no peeling or flaking risk. Our material is suitable for kindergartens, schoolyards, and public playgrounds.

What documentation or samples can you provide before purchase?

We provide free samples of standard colors and sizes for your evaluation. For formal procurement, we can supply technical data sheets, batch consistency reports, and color-matching confirmation. Our quality control process includes tensile strength, elongation, and color verification at multiple production stages.

Why Choose Us

We are a dedicated EPDM colored rubber granule manufacturer—not a contractor, not a generalist trading company. That focus shapes everything we do.

Our 25+ years of industry experience and fully equipped production lines are configured specifically for EPDM compounding and granulation. Because we do not divert resources into installation services, our engineering and quality teams concentrate entirely on the material itself: formulation consistency, color accuracy, particle size uniformity, and batch-to-batch reproducibility.

For international buyers, this focus translates into practical advantages. We have extensive global export experience serving customers across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Americas, and we understand the documentation, packaging, and logistics requirements of cross-border procurement. We support OEM, ODM, and private label arrangements, and we can customize packaging to your branding or handling requirements.

Color flexibility is a core capability. Beyond RAL and Pantone matching, we accept customer-supplied samples for color development and can produce custom color combinations for patterned or zoned installations. Particle size is equally flexible: 0.5–1.5 mm, 1–3 mm, 1–4 mm, 2–4 mm, and special specifications on request.

Our quality control system emphasizes high color consistency across batches, strict tensile and elongation testing, and UV stability verification. The peroxide-cured structure delivers tensile strength in the 4–7 MPa range, with elasticity and tensile performance 2–3× higher than conventional sulfur-cured granules. The C-C crosslink network also contributes to flame retardancy (Grade 1) and a low bulk density with well-defined, angular granule geometry for good binder adhesion.

We support full-container and consolidated shipments, maintain stable supply capacity, and offer rapid delivery on confirmed orders. Whether you are a distributor building a product line, a surfacing contractor sourcing consistent material, or a facility owner specifying a long-life surface, our role is to supply granules that perform predictably—batch after batch, climate after climate.
