  Standard Ratio (1:6) – Many manufacturers recommend 1 part PU binder to 6 parts EPDM granules. For example, a 200kg drum of binder would mix with 1,200kg of EPDM granules . This is the most common baseline.

  High-Bond Ratio (1:5) – For high-traffic areas or thinner layers, some suppliers recommend a 1:5 ratio to ensure maximum adhesion and durability .

  Performance Ratio (1:7 or 15%) – German engineering standards often specify a ratio of 100:15 (EPDM to binder) or about 1:6.6, with an emphasis that changing the ratio (using too little binder) will decrease mechanical characteristics . Other technical guides also specify a 1:7 ratio for specific repair work or 10mm layers .

The "By Weight" Caveat: All professional specifications require mixing by weight, not volume. EPDM granules vary in density depending on whether they are virgin material or contain fillers. Relying on volume (e.g., buckets) will throw your ratio off completely.
